Explore various hypothetical scenarios and their potential impacts. Our "What Ifs" section allows you to understand the ripple effects of different variables and decisions.
You can create your own projections by changing individual athlete data. Clicking on any athlete in any event opens a pop-up where you can explore different potential point totals and their impact on the athlete's overall projected score and ranking. Thanks to an integrated IAAF scoring calculator, you can either enter a new performance or a new points target and see the resulting change. Furthermore, during the competiton the pop-up displays the performance gap required for the athlete to move up or down one place in the current standings.
As events are completed during the competiton, the projections will update to reflect the results and you will be able to see how far off each individual performance was from the intial projection. Current standings will be displayed and new projection totals will be shown.
To view the original projection for a single athlete and event:
Click on any cell in the completed event to see the original projection for that athlete.
To pause live results and view the intial projections for all athletes:
Use the Show Initial Projections toggle switch in settings.
